Customer's Situation #1
A major electrical utility was regularly conducting an annual safety audit of over one hundred work sites spread across a large area. The safety department had to visit these sites on regular basis to ensure compliance. The audit had to be customized to each site and scores tallied. Spreadsheets and site visits was the methodology.
A custom web application was built that enabled each site to create and customize a localized version of the audit under the watchful eye of the safety manager. Throughout the year, the records of safety activity were entered and monitored using the web application. Both the local site and the safety management team could monitor progress using charts and reports. This meant no surprises at the end of the year when the audits were to be completed.
The sites now are able to define their own terms as to what is required and the safety department can monitor all aspects of the audit throughout the year.

A major forestry company was making a large effort to have regular safety talks with work crews but had no way to measure its effectiveness.
A custom web application was built that records the conversations, the hours worked and calculates frequency.
The conversation frequency can be compared to the incident frequency to see how effective safety conversations are in reducing workplace incidents

A mine was operating in an environment where employee training and medical evaluations were closely monitored. Workers had to have extensive training in order to work on site. Spreadsheets of requirements had to be cross checked against spreadsheets of training records. Courses as well as the course sub modules had a progression. The manual process was rapidly becoming impossible to manage.
A custom web application was built that creates a curriculum from a group of courses and courses from a group of submodules. These curricula are attached to workers. Training records are entered daily. The comparison is automated.
The training department has a continuous picture of who has what training and where the gaps are in training. The medical department can use the same process to monitor and schedule annual medicals and fitness testing.
